University of Nairobi 9th Open Day Kicks Off

The 9th University of Nairobi Open Day kicked off on Thursday 17th January and will run for three days upto Saturday 19th, at the Great Court, Main Campus. The event is open to the general public. All colleges and central administration units have set up camp at the event, meeting and engaging both internal and external stakeholders.

His Excellency Deputy President William Ruto Graduates During the 60th UoN Graduation Ceremony

Deputy President, H.E. William Samoei Ruto graduated during the 60th University of Nairobi Graduation Ceremony. He received his Doctoral Degree in Plant Ecology in the presence of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Since the operationalization of Graduate School in 2017, key areas of its operations have been strengthened and this has resulted in many achievements.Key among these achievements include:

Development, implementation and enhancement of the Online Application System – Graduate School was part of the development of the online application system that has made the admission process efficient.

Revised the Common Regulations of the Postgraduate Diplomas, Masters, Doctor of Philosophy and Higher Doctorate Degrees of the University of NairobiThese regulations were aligned to both CUE and the University of Nairobi requirements.

World AIDS Day Celebrations

His Excellency Deputy President William Ruto Receives Letter of Award

Deputy President William Ruto today received his letter of award from the Director Graduate School, Prof. Lydiah Njenga in presence of University of Nairobi Vice Chancellor, Prof. Peter Mbithi. The Deputy President is set to Graduate with a Doctor of Philosophy in Plant Ecology during the 60th University of Nairobi Graduation Ceremony.

SYLFF University of Nairobi Chapter Meeting

The SYLFF University of Nairobi chapter meeting was held on 23rd November at the University of Nairobi Towers, 11th Floor. The theme was SYLFF Fellows as Agents of Change. The Fellows shared their experiences in line with the theme and philosophy of Sylff and identified the binding aspects of Fellows.

Discussions were made to determine the future of Sylff UoN chapter which was informed by recommendations of the 2016 Peace Forum report. This entailed orientation of new members, interdisciplinary collaborations, and way forward for the Chapter.

Meeting With Representative from Tokyo Foundation

The Graduate School management held a meeting with Ms.Yue Zhang, a representative from the Tokyo Foundation. The meeting was held on Friday 23rd, November at the Graduate School board room. Among the items discussed was scholarships for postgraduate students.

Blue Economy Conference

Kenya and its co-hosts Canada and Japan are inviting the world to Nairobi for the first global conference on the sustainable blue economy.

Over 4,000 participants from around the world will meet from November 26 to 28, 2018 at the Sustainable Blue Economy Conference to learn how to build a blue economy that:

  • Harnesses the potential of our oceans, seas, lakes and rivers to improve the lives of all, particularly people in developing states, women, youth and Indigenous peoples
  • Leverages the latest innovations, scientific advances and best practices to build prosperity while conserving our waters for future generations

The conference will capture concrete commitments and practical actions that can be taken today to help the world transition to the blue economy.
