DAAD will be offering the University of Nairobi upto seven (7) Masters Scholarships and upto seven (7) Ph.D Scholarships for the 2018/2019 academic year, eligible in the following School/Centres.

  • School of Physical Sciences
  • School of Economics
  • Centre for Advanced Studies in Environmental Law and Policy (CASELAP)

Eligible applicants must have completed their last university degree less than 6 years ago at the time of application. The DAAD application are open only to applicants for the September 2018 intake in the following programmes:

  • Master of Science in Analytical Chemistry

General Guidelines to applicants

  1. Applicants must send their application documents ( a copy of the application form for postgraduate admission) together with all the DAAD Application documents listed on the Information Sheet for Scholars, 2018/2019 to their Deans/Directors of Schools/Centre.
  2. Doctor of Philosophy applicants must attach Research proposals that demonstrate relevance to development. In addition, they must attach a Turn-It-In plagiarism report whose similarity index should not exceed 15%.
  3. Duration and Commencement: Scholarships are available for upto maximum of two years(Masters) and three years(PhD) respectively. The scholarship will be initially granted for one year and may be extended upon individual request and receipt of a complete application by using the provided form.
  4. Equal opportunities: Female candidates and candidates from less privileged regions or groups as well as candidates with disabilities are especially encouraged to apply.
  5. Foreign applicants are eccouraged to apply.
  6. Application procedures and Deadlines: Applications must be sent to the respective host institution and only shortlisted candidates will be informed to apply for the DAAD scholarships in the DAAD portal https://portal.daad.de/irj/portal.

Application Deadline

Applicants should submit their application documents to their respective Deans/Directors so as to reach the office of the Graduate School on 25th January and not later than 31st January, 2018.
