Call for Abstracts: The National Symposium on Environment and Peace

In the context of the three pillars of the Wangari Maathai Institute (WMI); Peace, Environment and Governance and within the One Nation Under God-Kenya (ONUG) motive of Renewing the Nation and Building a Culture of Peace, WMI in partnership with ONUG is organizing a National Symposium on Environment and Peace on September 21, 2018 at the Wangari Maathai Institute, College of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences, University of Nairobi. This is therefore, to invite interested participants to submit extended abstracts of not more than 4 pages on any of the following themes:

  • Ethical and Creative leadership for sustainable peace and environment conservation
  • Building a culture of peace through service and volunteerism
  • Entrepreneurship and the green economy for sustainable peace
  • Crosscutting issues on environmental conservation and peace.

The University of Nairobi (UoN), University of Copenhagen (UCPH), and the Danish Institute for International Studies (DIIS) invite interested and qualified Kenyan candidates holding a graduate degree in Development Studies, Human Geography, Environmental Studies, Political Science or any other relevant social science discipline to apply for one of the four PhD scholarships related to the research programme, “Rights and Resilience in Kenya” (RARE).

Graduate School Sensitization on UoN 2018-2023 Strategic Plan

Graduate School held a special staff meeting on August 8th, 2018. The meeting was chaired by the Director Graduate School, Prof. Lydiah Njenga. During the meeting the staff were sensitized on the 2018/2019 Graduate School Performance Contract as well as the University of Nairobi 2018-2023 Strategic Plan. A new staff member Mr. Philip Mukola was also introduced to the team.

The Gandhi Smarak Nidhi fund will offer a limited number of partial scholarships tenable at the University of Nairobi, for Masters Programmes during the 2018/2019 academic year.

Interested candidates are invited to apply/re-apply for the scholarship through our online application portal (https://gandhi.uonbi.ac.ke) from Monday July 30, 2018. A non-refundable application fees of Kenya Shillings Two Thousand Only (KShs. 2,000.00) will be charged to be paid through MPESA services.
