Mentorship Breakfast Meeting for Female Students in STEM

Female postgraduate students in STEM (Science Technology Engineering & Mathematics) were hosted to a breakfast meeting at the University of Nairobi towers on Friday 27th September, 2019. The event was hosted by the Department of Chemistry - CBPS in collaboration with the Graduate School. The organiser of the event was KEN01 Project funded by International Science Programme (ISP) UPPSALA and the group leader is Prof. Lydia Njenga, Director Graduate School.

The programme began at  8.00AM with opening remarks from Prof. Lydia Njenga, Prof. John M. Onyari (Chairman, Department of Chemistry), Christopher Nyamai (Dean, School of Physical Sciences), Prof. Bernard Aduda (Principal, College of Biological & Physical Sciences) and Prof. Julius Ogengo (DVC, Academic Affairs).

The key note speakers were Ms. Mwanamaka Mabruki from the School of Economics who gave a presentation on Postgraduate female science students in leadership, Dr. Faith Karanja who is the Chaiman Department of Geospatial Engineering who gave a presentation on Postgraduate female science students in Academia as well as Dr. Salome Guchu who is the Ag. CEO, Kenya National Innovation Agency who gave a presentation on female science students as Researchers and Innovators.
