School of Law doctoral student Muthomi Thiankolu was never going to let the coronavirus pandemic stop him from completing his PhD.  On July 21, 2020, he successfully presented his defense to the Board of Examiners panel chaired by School of Law Dean, Prof. Kiarie Mwaura.

Thiankolu, an advocate of the High Court of Kenya is also a lecturer at the school of law with specific research interests in dispute resolution; public procurement regulation; constitutional and administrative law; and international economic law.

The Africa Region of the World Bank Group (WBG) announces the opening of the application for the 2021 WBG-Africa Fellowship Program for PhD. candidates and recent Ph.D. graduates who are Sub-Saharan Africa nationals. Women are encouraged to apply. The deadline for applications is August 23, 2020.

Prof. Enos Njeru, PhD

UoN has been ranked in the top 6.8% out of twenty thousand universities worldwide according to the Center for World University Rankings’ new list for 2020-21. The Center for World University Rankings (CWUR) publishes the largest academic rankings of global universities.

Objective indicators are used for all four key pillars underlying the methodology of the ranking (quality of education, alumni employment, quality of faculty, and research performance) with no reliance on surveys and university data submissions.

Prof. Stephen Kiama, has been officially installed as the eighth Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nairobi, taking over from Prof. Peter Mbithi. During his installation in Taifa Hall, Main Campus on June 5, 2020, Prof. Kiama promised to institute reforms and steer the ship in the turbulent waters.
