1 How do I apply for a postgraduate programme?

Application is done online via the Online Application System.

2 What are the requirements for postgraduate program application?

POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA AND MASTERS

  • KCSE/O-Level  Certificate
  • Certified copies of undergraduate degree certificate and transcripts
  • Applicants with KCSE C (plain) to attach certified copy of diploma  from KNEC in addition to those stated in 1 & 2
  • Applicants with KCSE C- (minus)  to attach certified copies of a certificate and a diploma from KNEC in addition to those stated in 1 & 2

PHD BY COURSE WORK, EXAMINATION AND THESIS

  • KCSE/O-Level  Certificate

How long does an application take to process?

Once an application is shortlisted by the respective Faculty/Institute/School/Centre and the list forwarded to graduate school it takes a maximum of 2 days to process.

When are the intakes for postgraduate programmes?

All postgraduate programmes have an intake in September but a few schools have an intake in January and May. The intakes for school based programmes is in April, August and December.
5 How long does a student ID take to process?

A student ID card takes 3 days to process.

What are the requirements for replacing a lost student ID card?

The following documents are required:

  • A police abstract.
  • A letter from your department
  • Clearance slip from the library
  • University of Nairobi payment slip of KSh.1000 paid to the account below:

When and what do I require to renew my University of Nairobi scholarship?

The University of Nairobi and Sasakawa scholarship regulations stipulate that

after the first year of study, a student on scholarship requests for renewal of

scholarship to the Director, Graduate School through his/her chairman and the

Dean/Director. The request should include a provisional transcript (SMIS generated and approved by the Dean/Director) indicating all the first year units together with a progress report from the Dean/Director.

What are the requirements for temporary / Permanent withdrawal?

Fill in the withdrawal form which can be downloaded from the graduate school website. The form should be approved by the chairman of your respective department as well as the dean/director before being forwarded to the Director, Graduate School.
9 Do postgraduate courses have a stipulated time period? Yes, each programme has a stipulated time period. Kindly contact the respective Faculty/Institute/School/Centre for more information.
