Mahatma Gandhi Graduate Library refurbished and furnished

The Mahatma Gandhi Graduate Library (previously used as UNES bookstore) has been furnished as we await the official launch. The Library will serve ONLY postgraduate students and Faculty.

The Mahatma Gandhi graduate library is a one STOP research centre, with several flexible and diverse research materials, spaces and consultation room for . It has a conference room, coffee bar and a lounge area with a TV to provide healthy and current news learning breaks.

Graduate School Tracking System Training

A mentorship meeting for PhD students from ODeL campus was held today, 22nd June 2019, at Education Building, ED213, Main Campus. Among key speakers were the Director, ODeL Campus, Prof. Harriet Kidombo and Director, Graduate School, Prof. Lydiah Njenga.

The students were taken through the administrative requirements for a PhD programme, new developments and changes at UoN that affect all PhD students.

Njenga, today met the PhD students who will be participating in the 3MT competition in Ghana from 20th - 27th June 2019 for an experiential Learning Summer Programme for a briefing at the Graduate School Boardroom. Also present was Prof. Karori Mbugua, Chairman, Department of Philosophy, who will be accompanying the students to Ghana.

Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition

Three minute thesis (3MT) challenges participants to explain their research effectively and concisely to a non-specialist audience in three minutes, helping to develop their presentation and research communication skills. Communicating to different audiences helps demonstrate the contribution that research makes to wider society and the economy.

Director, GS at York University for 3MT Competition

The Director, Prof. L. Njenga, was in University of York as a judge for their 3MT Competition that was held on June 11, 2019.

On June 20th 2019, five University of Nairobi PhD students will be travelling to University of Ghana to communicate the impact of their research to an audience and judging panel.

Other Universities participating in the competition are University of York, University of Rochester and University of Ghana.
