The GS is responsible for the coordination of postgraduate programmes with respect to syllabi, admission of students, monitoring of students academic progress, administration of scholarships, research grants, examinations and the general welfare of postgraduate students.

Postgraduate programmes are offered by either: coursework, examination and project; coursework, examination and thesis or by thesis only. Upon completion of the coursework, students embark on research work.
