Those eligible for the award of a Higher Doctorate of the University of Nairobi must among other requirements be holders of the Doctor of Philosophy or Doctor of Medicine degree of the University of Nairobi or the Doctor of Philosophy degree from any other recognized university.
To date, the University of Nairobi has awarded 6 Higher Doctorate Degrees.
Prof. Annie Patricia Kameri-Mbote was awarded Doctor of Laws (LLD) on December 20th, 2019. She was the first woman to receive a Higher Doctorate Degree from the University of Nairobi.
Prof. Julius Ogeng'o was awarded Doctor of Medicine on September 14th, 2018. He currently holds the position of Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic Affairs at the University of Nairobi.
Prof. Jackton Ojwang was awarded Doctor of Laws (LLD) on September 4th, 2015.
Prof. David Musyimi Ndetei was awarded Doctor of Science on December 6th, 2013.
Prof. Geoffrey Moriasi Ole Maloiy was awarded Doctor of Science on October 23rd, 2013.
Prof. John Onyango Kokwaro was awarded the first Post Doctoral Degree from the University of Nairobi. He was awarded Doctor of Science on October 17th, 2008.
