Three minute thesis (3MT) challenges participants to explain their research effectively and concisely to a non-specialist audience in three minutes, helping to develop their presentation and research communication skills. Communicating to different audiences helps demonstrate the contribution that research makes to wider society and the economy.

Director, GS at York University for 3MT Competition

The Director, Prof. L. Njenga, was in University of York as a judge for their 3MT Competition that was held on June 11, 2019.

On June 20th 2019, five University of Nairobi PhD students will be travelling to University of Ghana to communicate the impact of their research to an audience and judging panel.

Other Universities participating in the competition are University of York, University of Rochester and University of Ghana.

Nairobi Innovation Week Official Opening Ceremony

The 5th Nairobi Innovation Week

The University of Nairobi convenes a number of stakeholders to organize and execute the annual Nairobi Innovation Week (NIW) to support and accelerate the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem in the region. NIW runs from 10-14, June 2019 at the Great Court.

Graduate Programmes Among Those Launched by ODeL

University of Nairobi Open, Distance and e-Learning , ODeL, has launched 22 academic programs which include graduate programmes, that will allow students to access University education globally without ever stepping within the University. The launch took place on June 6, 2019 at the Chandaria Auditorium.

Mahatma Gandhi Graduate Library (MGGL), Opening Soon

The University of Nairobi in collaboration with the Mahatma Gandhi family has refurbished the old Mahatma Gandhi Library (previously used as Unes bookstore) to a state of the art Library.

The overall aim of this effort is to respond to Post graduate student’s unique/ dynamic research information needs /services, and to support the University strategic direction of becoming a premier research University. Based on this, the Library will serve ONLY postgraduate students and faculty.

The Mahatma Gandhi graduate library is a one STOP research centre, with several flexible and diverse research spaces. It has a Coffee bar and a TV Lounge to provide healthy and current news learning breaks.
